This event was to be the third meeting between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard and their second meeting for the UFC Lightweight Championship. The two met earlier this year at UFC 125: Resolution with the fight ending in a split draw, and Edgar retaining his title. Their first encounter at UFC Fight Night: Florian vs. Lauzon saw Maynard win via unanimous decision. It was later announced on May 9 that injuries to both forced the fight to be removed from the card. Edgar suffered broken ribs, while Maynard has suffered a knee injury. Anthony Pettis was originally contacted about replacing Edgar, but Maynard’s injury prevented the possible replacement. On February 9, it was rumored that Thiago Silva had been forced from his bout with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and could be replaced by Rashad Evans. Silva stated that he was not injured and was looking forward to his bout with Jackson. Instead, information surfaced that Silva may have failed a pre-fight drug screening at UFC 125, which could result in his suspension. It was then announced that the proposed Rashad Evans bout was never close to being signed, and that Rampage would face Matt

I think Santiago looked tentative he never really landed a clear shot on Brian. Alves lookes extremely tentative and i dont understand how he is not afraid to strike against a world class wrestler in Koscheck but afraid to strike with Rick. hmm I think Torres won but with the current judging style he lost. Travis Browne my sparring partner worked the game plan pretty well. over all a decent fight. I thought nelson would do more.

I respect you for taking so well the ZUFFA BUG thing ! I mean it came across to me as one AUTHORITARIAN, dictatorship shit !
I mean if you have power. You can accuse at will and get what you want.
And if you are weak, you have to prove your innocence and wait 14 days ?

    “F” that ! Totally unacceptable !!

@doliveij Dude, u really dont like him huh, lol. Me too,but his illness is documented. Before when carwin fight OFF due to 1st surgery & then he came back to fight Carwin. His fam, reporters, hospitals in 2 countries would have to be in on it.He luvs being a ufc mofo.Would have to take illness back for him NOT pursue title again. His illness returning/colon surgery needed is common. Im doubting now, lol, but its not like Bush lies,UFC would loose all credibility if did it. They would be done.

@GanzLONDON Lol. I understand what u mean. Just saying as conspiracies goes, this has less proof than world trade centers being taken down on purpose. Fact is he sick. Documented hospital stays in 2 countries. Fact is he pulled out of 1st carwin fight when ill but came back to fight carwin so not out of fear. Fact, he luvs fighting. Him getting sick again is not unbelievable. Surgery/colon remove for his problem is common. And would be stupid ufc risk billion company for 1 fighter.
    PEACE my son!

Alves was not fixed. Koscheck wanted to stand with him. Rick Story is also a big powerful 170. So Thiago fighting someone with his frame. If he swing for the fences take down. Story are not good but explosive but he just wanted a take down

Torres won the fight. Just because Judges were moronic before, doesnt mean they cant be moronic now. You just hate Miguel Torres. What can DJ actually do at the top end of 135? Another hyper active wrestler! And I thought you knew your BJJ! Really dough, Miguel won that fight.

I don’t buy any media any more. Until those rich fat fucks start treating their customers with respect I’m not giving any media producing (in particular the big ones) any of my money. We promote their shit and they give us a big F.U.

    @spaniardmale77

I am not disputing his sickness all together. I am not saying he didn’t suffer from diverticulitis. I’m not saying it’s all a lie.

Just questioning the timing and predictability of this latest episode and his wish to fight again.

The 2 main events were among the weakest fights of all time. I actually turned the channel in the middle of the main event…that should never happen. Brian Stann’s fight was the only thing worth mentioning.

You had Nelson / Alves / Struve predicted wrong, also you placed a “do not bet” on the Brian Stann fight (so 3 wrong, 6 right). So based on Pinnacle closing odds, if I spent $100 on each fight (so $900) based on all your prediction, I would end up with +$36 in the end. I need better predictions bro, hard to get rich like this ;)

@doliveij Understand now. Still, dude has been searching for something his whole life. From high school/college wrestling, football,to wresting, to that redonkuous knife on chest etc. He seemed to had found it in MMA.What his personality/body were born for. U remember his excitement etc.Dude luvs being a fighter.Timing seems weird when focus on it, but diverticulitis complications, operations, colon removal r common. Win/loose he never ducked his betters.
Guess we have Draw in comment sparring.

@GanzLONDON UFC has been building for years to be mainstream, with regulations, honest fights, being fair to fans, no monkey business like boxing and the like. They finally getting it. They got fighters like jones, gsp in mainstream now, lots of fighters, future stars, greats like overeem maybe joining, etc. To risk that just for 1 fighter/1fight..would risk all work to make their company success(forbes/others value it in billions now).
    Fans, reporters,media,mainstream would crucify it.
