The first ever UK UFC Fan Expo will coincide with this event. This event will air on the same day, via tape delay, on Spike TV in the US The event will be the fourth the UFC has hosted at the O2 Arena in London, England and the first since UFC 95. It is also the ninth event held in England and the first since UFC 105. Dan Hardy was originally scheduled to fight Dustin Hazelett at this event before Hazelett pulled out because of his wedding in September. Hazelett instead faced Rick Story at UFC 117. Carlos Condit replaced Hazelett as Dan Hardy’s opponent. John Hathaway was also expected to fight Dong Hyun Kim. However, Kim was forced off the card with an injury and replaced by Mike Pyle. Tom Blackledge was originally set to fight James Te-Huna. However, Te-Huna withdrew after an injury in training. Blackledge, an assistant coach for Team Rampage on The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights, was then scheduled to fight TUF 10 semi-finalist, James McSweeney. However, on September 28, 2010, Tom Blackledge withdrew from the matchup with James McSweeney for unknown reasons and was replaced by Fabio Maldonado. i defiantly agree some fighters can, which is why i said ‘most’. Clearly the cream of the crop are able to do this which is they are on the top. I just dont think Akiyama is one of those guys.

well not just the cream of the crop, a lot of fighters can, for example koscheck who was really just a wrestler in the beginning, always turned the fights into wrestling matches

I felt sorry for Hathaway for having such a dreadful corner, didn’t tell him to go for a take down until the 3rd round by which time he was pretty much done in the fight.
They seemed more concerned with pep talks about his striking, which wasn’t as good as Pyles, was far to mechanical and slow.
I really wanted to see some wrestling offence from a Brtitish fighter for once, hell he might have still lost but ffs try.

I thought it was a pretty decent card. The Bisping fight went how I thought it would. Condit’s KO over Hardy was impressive. I was disappointed with Hathaway, I like the kid but I wish he would’ve gone for more takedowns.

About that McSweeney fight. He went from Hes heating up to Hes getting beat up! He dishes out the aggressiveness but can’t take it the same. Saw the other matches I wasn’t overly impressed ya but Condit is kinda beast like for sure. Great recap as always!
Akiyama seems promising but that comes with borderline I don’t know what happened outcomes in these matchups.

Ok but let’s face facts here bisping is ridiculously overrated in the uk and doesn’t deserve a title shot Dan hardy got sonned by gsp and he won’t get that opportunity again akiyama is used to fighting Japanese cans and the card overall was a fillin to advance standings and setup matchups for real and more exciting cards that well you know…might actually be worth some money
