MMA Training??????????
I just started taking MMA classes and was wondering how long it takes before you really soak up the stuff and can compete….i know im getting ahead of myself but iwas just wondering from first hand expetrience how long did it take from your first day of class to the first time you stepped into the cage….thanks for all answers
At some point you should start sparring with the guys in your class. You’ll see pretty quickly how good you are at that point.
When you feel confident that you are one of the best guys at your weight class in your school – take a shot at an amateur bout. THAT’s where you’ll really learn how ready you are.
Don’t put a time frame on it – you may be ready today if you have wrestling/martial arts background. It may be years. Just use your own judgement, and ask your instructors if they think you should get into a competition.
first of all… idk about your state but in missouri you have to be 18 to fight at all… second of all you need at least 3 months before a fight to condition, and get strength let alone learn all the stuff you need to know… so if i were you i would shoot for about 6 months before you step into a cage
Years, they didn’t get that badass and ripped overnight, it takes awhile to get used to pain. a long ass while.
depends on the person, and how quickly you learn and can apply what you learn. could take anywhere from a year to over 5 years. it all depends on the person.
It depends how much your learning and much time you spend practising each day. The more you practise the better you will get. Try practising everyday for atleast an hour, you will see results in no time. Also try strenth building by doing weights and push ups, for good abs do sit ups and crunches. do those workouts 4-5 times a week. Stamina is a key thing for fighting and you want to breathe out your nose, not your mouth whilst doing those exercises and workouts do running everyday and put selertape (i dnt no how to spell it) over your mouth. This will make you breathe out your nose and build stamina but you should do this while another person ocupies you as it could make you feel dissy. If you feel dissy take the selertape off and rest for a minute. And another important thing is healthy eating, so don’t eat junk food and eat fruit for a snack, drink lots of milk to make your bones stronger so you can heart your opponent more and drinks lots of water. If you do all this for the times i told you it should take 6-12 months or even less.
With 6 months to a year of MMA training, a gifted athlete can be ready to compete at a decent level. This is where MMA differs from more traditional arts. With MMA you can become a proficent competitor in a short amount of time, whereas with an art like Kung Fu, you may not grasp concepts until much later.
If you train hard and with good guys (at least 4 times a week) you might be ok after 6 months (if you fight in an amateur match). Usually it will be a couple a years and several (5+) amateur matches before you would want to go pro.
