MMA Tkd White Black
How long will it take for each martial art?

white to 3rd degree black belt in JUDO
white to 3rd degree black belt in BJJ
white to 5rd degree black belt in TKD (itf)
white to 3rd degree black belt in KYOKUSHIN (karate)

Just wondering because there is a few guys at my mma club and they are near enough what ive just said and i was wondering how long it would take (estimated guideline) to achive this level

Firstly, this is a very annoying, repetitive question. The answer to that question is interesting, and it exposes many different flaws in the modern use of belt ranks as motivation for students to continue to achieve. Children advance too quickly. Old men lose talent and yet are promoted. Physical ability is confused with teaching ability. And, ranks have little transfer value and thus provide poor return on investment.

There is no specific time-line for achieving Dan grades in any martial art. It depends on many things, including the individual. The time-frame can be shortened or lengthened based on several factors such as your commitment to your training, your overall technical ability, your ability to learn and digest new material, and other factors.
The next thing to consider is the curriculum specific to your style of martial arts.
Getting a black belt is not intended to be easy. The black belt is an esteemed symbol of a person’s basic technical skill and martial arts knowledge and is something to be proud of achieving. Ultimately, the time it takes to get your black belt should not be your primary concern.

There is a famous story about Yagyu Matajuro, who was a son of the famous Yagyu family of swordsmen in 17th century feudal Japan. He was kicked out of the house for lack of talent and potential, and sought out instruction of the sword-master Tsukahara Bokuden, with the hope of achieving mastery of the sword and regaining his family position.

On their initial interview, Matajuro asked Tsukahara Bokuden, “How long will it take me to master the sword?” Bokuden replied, “Oh, about five years if you train very hard.”

“If I train twice as hard, how long will it take?” inquired Matajuro. “In that case, ten years,” retorted Bokuden.
