MMA Martial Arts Taekwondo

Has there ever been a World Martial Arts Tournament before?
Like, any martial art, from purists to MMA, any martial art champion; from professional fighters in the UFC to the local Karate blackbelt state champions to the no longer popular boxers and even Taekwondo Olympians or even celebrities such as Van Damme or WWE wrestlers (who cares if WWE is fake…you have to admit that they’re good wrestlers…I mean, can you do a frog splash from the top rope or even a jackhammer powerbomb?)…from all around the world all battle in a World-Wide Tournament to become the World Martial Arts Champion or something. It would also be inter-gender. AS any BJJ lady can take down a 200 pound boxer. No age limit..as long as you waiver that no one will press charges if you die on the spot if you’re a 80 year old monk Kung Fu expert or even Helio Gracie, who’s 92 years old. Hell, even a 13 year old prodigy who can beat up 3 Taekwondo blackbelts simultaneously can join.
And, would you like to see or participate in one?
I certainly don’t think youre the first person to think about it; there’s a thousand and one movies out there about just such a contest
In reality, the practical considerations are a major obstacle to be overcome
for example, like it or not, it’s an athletic contest, and as such, people with physical advantages (youth, conditioning, size, strength) will have an advantage, not just in any individual match, but to continue through a series of increasingly challenging matches throughout the day, as a tounament platform proposes
another major obstacle is rules; everyone has a different idea of what a “fight” should be; and there’s a trade off: the more rules, the more it becomes and athletic contest, and thus favors those with physical advantages; on the other hand, the fewer rules, the more brutal the matches, and the more beat up the participants will be as the contest wears on
the MMA tournaments of the 90′s, I believe, are the closest anyone has come, at least with any real publicity, and you can see how the entire concept changed with time to fit in with practical considerations
(time limits, weight classes, rules, tehnical training, etc.)
