What is the best way to build back muscles for Surfing in less than 2 months?
I am going longboard surfing in Hawaii in less than 2 months. When I just about get into good shape to catch more waves it is time to get back on the plane. I live in Dallas, Texas so it is too cold to get into the water and I do not have access to another longboard to practice on the surrounding lakes. Any suggestions on what to do at the gym? I also pratice Mixed Martial Arts & yoga for stength and cardio. Any specific sugestions technique exercise would be helpful. Thanks.
Surfing muscles are quite defined, push ups and lat pull downs etc. won’t do much. You need to recreate to motion of paddling like you do when you’re surfing, so I recommend swimming. Do head-up front-crawl with a pull buoy. This is basically the exact same motion as paddling when you surf. Remember the HEAD UP party, normal freestyle doesn’t quite work the same muscles.
