on standards how much would it cost me to buy a heavy punching bag, two sets of gloves, a speed bag +?

Filled bags run about $1 per pound, so a 200 pound banana bag will run about $200. For MMA you need the banana bag. Figure $50 for 2 pair of gloves at Big 5 sports, and another $50 for a speed bag with platform.
That’s around $300 to start. Since you want two pair of gloves, I take it you have a partner. In that case, you should invest another $100 to get some good focus mitts, or even Muay Thai kicking pads if you can. I made a great pair out of carpet padding, duct tape, and old karate belts. They are awesome for training! If you go home made, take the money you save and buy Bas Rutten’s MMA workout CDs.
You can go cheap in a lot of ways in your training, but get top quality gloves and heavy bag! I have a pair of gloves so old the palms are torn out and there are holes in the thumbs, but the part that counts is still 100%.
