Ken Shamrock and James Toney have agreed to meet in an MMA match with special rules. MMAWeekly.com caught up with Shamrock in Van Nuys, California, and he explained what motivated him most to agree to this fight.

Thats not fighting, thats being stupid… If fighters dont like grappling then learn how to stop takedowns or get the fuck back up.. If u cant do either then u shouldnt be fighting..

I love it… As a boxing fan and part time MMA fan… I love it… I have watched Ken from the git go but after awhile I found that to much time on the ground made it boring… Good idea Ken.

Well whaddya know–Ken the douche makes a lot of sense here in terms of the entertainment aspect of the sport. Not that you want MMA to become that sort of shit altogether, but entertaining side-show under-card & preliminary bouts like what he’s talking about would be fun to watch. e.g., Kimbo vs Toney is a great idea. Ken looks like shit & I don’t care who wins. This is a win-win for fans. One of the 2 douches is going down. I’ll have my popcorn & beer ready & just enjoy the circus.

ughhh this is horrible. I hate how MMA has become so mainstream and is labeled entertainment. MMA is supposed to be out who is the best fighter in a one on one fight with as few rules as possible. Its not about whose the most entertaining but who can win. If you can take someone down and ground and pount them then that is winning. If you dont like the ground fighting then watch boxing or kickboxing.

Ken needs a payday! I can’t forgive him for what he pulled in the locker room of EliteXC before the Kimbo fight. However, the promoters should have gave him what he asked for. The company when bankrupt and they lost milions for not paying Shamrock.
