Well there are the brain-dead douchebags that walk around wearing Tapout and Affliction shirts and those guys are tools that couldnt tell an arm bar from a guillotine so a large resounding yes for those types.
however there are also the guys that are serious about it and legitimately belted, and those guys typically dont go around saying "i’m an mma fighter" to everyone they meet. They do it because they love it and respect the sport. However, they dont call it MMA, they will tell you (if you ask) what specific styles they study.
Conclusion: Mixed Martial Arts is for douchebags. However, that is not to be confused with someone who has studied an array of martials arts and competes in competition that can only be legitimately defined as mma, because it offers practitioners of different styles (aka mixed styles) to compete using any and all styles they know.
EDIT: Mrs. Ethan Tremblay (sp? i’m dyslexic) is proving my point. When they say "i do mma" they’re full of shit and complete moronic douchebags. However, that’s not the same as stating what arts they practice, which any self-resecting practitioner won’t do unless the conversation merits it.
Well duh. Have you ever heard someone say they do Mixed Martial Arts and thought "he looks like an intelligent, caring person."?
I think not
No
Yes
I rather watch boxing.
It’s for posers.
No
How is learning more than one martial art make you a brain dead douche-bag?
