Most professional fighters wish they started that young. You’re starting at the perfect time. usually if you start any earlier you lose interest and stop training in your teens then go back to it and get whooped by all the guys that started at 14/15 and stuck with it.
IMHO 14-15 is the best age to start serious training.
No way man! You’re 14 you have a ton of time ahead of you!
And don’t think you need to lose the weight before you start, doing the training will help you lose the weight, you don’t know how long it’ll take you to lose that weight on your own and by then it might be too late to start!
Don’t let little things like this hold you back, go balls to the walls man and good luck to you
you are to young actually. but i’d start training right away you’ll lose more weight training than you will actually trying to lose the weight.
Start training now. It will help you physically and mentally with the weight. Your instructor will gain respect for you if he sees you slim down and no decent instructor will turn you away because of your weight.
Before you decide where and what to train, go around to several dojos and observe for a day or two some of their lessons. That way you can find what interests you. Make sure your instructor can and will answer how and why. How a technique works and why you do it the way you do. If its just because he was taught that way, find another instructor. By that time in their career they should know the mechanics of their techniques.
You have time.
I would start training as soon as possible and lose your weigh as you progress. Waiting to lose the weight first will curtail your progress.
