i’ll never forget when karate beat jiu-jitsu on UFC it was just awesome! fights only end up on the ground if the fighters dont know what they’re doing

    mma is not art.
its mix of technique of martial art.
    but its not art.
its a combination of technique that makes u win, strong, superior.
    its a sport.
its not an art of self defense.
    its just plain technique..
no art… it work, but it is empty technique..
i prefermuay thai, shaolin kung fu, wing chun, capoiera, ninjutsu, taichi, jiu jitsu, silat, karate and tae kwondo.

cipantapirtenuk is right, MMA isn’t an art, , MMA means Mixed Martial Arts, It’s not a style, therefor it’s not an art. MMA is a definition and a sport.

This test is not accurate. Different people have different abilities. Just because a Muay Thai champion doesn’t kick as hard as Bas Rutten doesn’t mean MMA is better, it means Bas Rutten is better. For an accurate test, you would literally have to clone Bas Rutten and train the clone in strictly Muay Thai.

I would have to disagree with your evaluation of the idea of MMA. Saying it’s not an art due to the fact that it’s not pure and is a competition is slightly absurd. There are competitions for nearly every martial “art” in the world. The combination and unity of all of the different arts and tactics known MAKES it an art. Many, MANY martial arts contain things very near to many other arts. Speaking down on things simply due to their similarity towards other techniques is silly.

@td82394 I’ve done both Muay thai isn’t as hard as mma. When you train in musy thai your bone get stronger.MMA however you have to pick up a punching bag and throw it down pick up a person and do squats while carrying up the person.Have 3lb rubbers ball drop on your stomach while lifting your legs up and down i’vs been in a clutch and guateen. The reason ist the clutch is just a way to seccure your head. The guateen if you’re not you could pass out.

@Spideman7670 i didn’t say anything about which style was better. i said that bas rutten and the aforementioned muay thai champ are not comparable and therefore this test is inaccurate.

@td82394 And it means that Rutten is bigger as well. That’s what wrong with these tests–they don’t normalize the force in accordance to the weight.

“… comes from Brazilian JiuJitsu .. grappling. ”

What a sad statement… completely throwing out the notion that Wrestling, Judo, and Sambo (all major parts of MMA) are grappling as well.

actually if your talking real world application….what about when you have mutliple apponents? im taliking ten to 20 huge basterds…..i believe that a balance of speed, strength, technic, and stradigy will keep from getting killed in a no rule viscious fight to the death. and i give mma respect but to be honest they need to show a variant of mma in a none caged area. were anything can happen. but to honest i believe that all martial arts are the best. its not about the style.

@cybernako088 no style will help you with “ten to 20 huge basterds” besides the shooting style

    January 21st, 2011 at 07:17 | #23

@cybernako088 However IN MY OPINION it would do better then many martial arts such as karate taekwondo and kung fu ect. but martial arts such as Krav Maga and bruce lee’s Jeet Kune Do would be the best

    January 23rd, 2011 at 20:59 | #24

@tywainwright1 I’m saddened by the realization as well…….but Bruce Lee would have lost horribly. I would love to know what he would’ve developed after that loss though. Bruce as he was would have been destroyed. What he could have contributed is possibly amazing. Krav Maga I think is mostly crap unless you know nothing about fighting. It’s awesome…..but to be the best you need far more then that.

    January 24th, 2011 at 02:54 | #25

@Thulgore Yes Bruce in modern times I think would have adapted to the newer styles of combat and come out far ahead of everyone else, and why do you say krav maga is mostlly crap?
