Do You Consider Someone Who Does Mixed Martial Arts Classses a Mixed Martial Artist?

I don’t consider someone who takes Mixed Martial Arts classes a Mixed Martial Artist I think that title goes to someone who has mastered multiple arts. What do you guys think?

No…I consider them a sport fighter that competes in a rule based contest using techniques from martial arts to win. They are not a mixed martial artist considering the fact that the MMA is not and cannot be a martial art system so there for to call them such labels them as fraudulent martial artists.

No, MMA training incorporates a bunch of arts but it’s not studying an art. That’s why I wouldn’t even go so far as to say somebody who trains exclusively in MMA is a martial artist. It’s a sport… Kinda like saying self defense classes is martial arts, it isn’t but it does incorporate martial arts.

I think so, he/she is an artist at mixing the different martial arts, right? Anyway, I rather just keep it safe an call ‘em MMA fighters.

Well technically the term Mixed Martial Artist means someone who trains Mixed Martial Arts. Thats just what it is called. You can’t make it your own meaning.
