go watch a TKD match. than go watch a kyokushin match. the differences are staggering. go look at daido-ryu then go look at TKD. go look at shidokan, than go look at TKD. there are many many differences.

Bud, I’ve seen karate, once again, same kicks (slower i guess), different rules? yes, different focus? yes…same kicks. Olimpic tkd has no punches, yet combat tkd does. But those aren’t the ones u’ll find on youtube.

TKD kicks emphasize more pivot on the supporting base foot. The sidekick in tkd is totally different from the shotokan japanese side kick. Also tkd emphasizes the use of the instep when doing the roundhouse (turining kick) where as a lot of Japanese (shotokan) roundhouse with the ball of their foot.
